Atkin trustees, actuaries, consultants & administrators

Graduate Scheme

From day one, you will be working on real clients within small integrated teams that include specialists from our administration, investment, consultancy, payroll and trustee teams. This gives you exposure to the full range of pension scheme services from dealing with member queries to analysing company covenants to carrying out actuarial funding calculations and agreeing investment strategies.

We specialise in providing services to small and medium sized pension schemes that rely upon an innovative and collaborative approach based on a close personal relationship with the client. You will therefore have the opportunity to work on a large number of different schemes which might include schemes going into the PPF, employers participating in a Local Government Pension Scheme, and providing actuarial advice to larger schemes that have sophisticated funding and investment strategies.

Our flat management structure means you will work closely with senior actuaries, trustees and the company directors allowing you to gain expert knowledge and experience from not only the actuarial world but also the dynamics of running and managing the actual firm. We encourage all our employees to ask questions and challenge the status quo giving you real opportunities to impact on our actual business strategy.

As a small consultancy firm, we work intimately together both within our company and our client teams ensuring everybody feels they are a valued member. We understand that everyone is different and will have different strengths and weaknesses. We therefore treat everyone as an individual. This ethos allows you to gain self confidence and develop your own style of working, whether it be tackling technical calculations or structuring your own training and study programs.

“Working as a Graduate for an intimate company like Atkin & Co has provided me with the opportunity to apply my numerate skills in a practical way, the confidence to develop my own techniques to tackle challenges and the skills to communicate with a wide range of people from Senior Directors to members of pension schemes. With the comprehensive study package provided by Atkin & Co and additional support provided by the Actuarial department (including University lecturers and exam markers), Atkin & Co is certainly a company that I hope to achieve great success with.”

Actuarial Trainee

We believe in giving our trainees responsibility early on, be it project managing an internal development team or being first point of call on a client project. This allows you to really take ownership of a project and show us what you can do.

You will receive client exposure from the very start of your career with us and you will be given the opportunity to develop close relationships with your own clients, building the skills and experiences you need as a consultant. We believe this is the best way for you to understand the real value of the work you are carrying out. This unique level of responsibility allows trainees at Atkin & Co to become client managers very early in their careers.

With a combination of the opportunities available at Atkin & Co, our commitment to mutual support, creativity and forging strong personal relationships, we will ensure that you are stimulated, satisfied and successful.

The service provided was at such high level that I have subsequently introduced Richard to other Final Salary Schemes and continue to be continually impressed with the level of service. Atkin are responsive and understanding and are quick to identify potential issues before they arise. Communications between the employer, adviser, Actuary, accountant etc. are excellent & I have no hesitation in recommending them.
