Prudential Ride London to Surrey

Emma Norman-Webb in Atkin & Co’s finance department is ‘gearing up’ for a gruelling 100 mile cycle race along the Olympic road race route after her father was diagnosed with bowel cancer.  Emma is taking part to raise money for the charity Beating Bowel Cancer.

She will be part of Beating Bowel Cancer’s team of riders being led by Team Captain, TV personality and rugby star, Matt Dawson. The 60 cyclists aim to raise a combined total of £40,000, which is the equivalent cost of a Beating Bowel Cancer nurse for a year.

The Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 has been nicknamed the ‘marathon on wheels’ and is set to become the world’s biggest fundraising cycling event. The race takes place on 4 August and Emma will be joining 20,000 cyclists for the challenge. The road race starts at the Queen Elizabeth II Olympic Park, heads through central London and Surrey and includes the gruelling Box Hill circuit.

Matt Dawson, patron of the charity Beating Bowel Cancer, said: “I was incredibly touched by Emma’s family experience of bowel cancer which shows how important it is that charity’s like Beating Bowel Cancer are here to support patients and their families.

I’m thrilled that Emma’s part of my team and wish her the best of luck.”

If anyone wishes to sponsor Emma they can do so on her justgiving page which gives some backstory into her family history and hopefully will inspire you to dig deep and sponsor her and for those a little more musically inclined Emma is the lead singer in the Birmingham-based rock band, As Night Dies, who have organised a benefit gig alongside other bands on Friday 2 August at The Asylum venue in Birmingham. Tickets for the ‘Bands Against Bowel Cancer’ event cost £3 with all proceeds going towards Emma’s fundraising goal. To buy tickets, contact Emma at
